About this image
The village of Chichilianne stretches across the meadows of Trièves at the foot of Mont Aiguille. Houses, fields, hedges, and wooded edges form an inhabited foreground that helps to gauge the full height of the summit. The village remains clearly visible in the landscape, while the limestone cliff gives the valley its full scale. The red roofs form a compact group between the green meadow and the great pale wall. Their small sloping lines echo the horizontality of the flat-topped summit. Beneath the blue sky, the three elements — village, grass and limestone — retain distinctly different colours, making the relationship between the Trièves village and the mountain above it particularly clear.
Chichilianne is located in Isère, within the Vercors Regional Natural Park. The commune occupies a vast agricultural basin on the eastern edge of the massif. Its village, church, and hamlets are directly linked to the silhouette of Mont Aiguille, a major landmark of the area.
This photo print of Chichilianne at the foot of Mont Aiguille is printed on demand on matte Dibond aluminium. The finish highlights the houses, meadows, and the grand limestone silhouette of the Vercors.
