The first rays of light reach the Grande Casse before the surrounding valleys. The upper part of the summit is lit with golden and pink hues, while the rock faces, snowfields, and hollows of the landscape still retain the coldness of the night. Standing at 3,855 meters (12,648 feet) high, the Grande Casse is the highest point in the Vanoise massif and the Savoie department. It dominates the Pralognan-la-Vanoise area and is one of the national park's major landmarks. The framing emphasizes the power of the summit and the progression of light.
