A young ibex stands on the rocks of Grand Veymont, amidst a limestone landscape open to the Vercors ridges. Its small, still slender silhouette contrasts with the mass of the blocks, giving the scene a presence that is both wild and peaceful. Grand Veymont culminates at 2,341 meters and is the highest point of the massif in Isère. It overlooks Trièves and the Vercors Hauts-Plateaux nature reserve, where the Alpine ibex was reintroduced from the late 1980s. The framing remains close to the animal while retaining enough of the environment to situate the scene. The browns of the coat, the grays of the limestone, and the blues of the sky compose a soft palette, while the rock recalls the species' vertical habitat.
