About this image

The Éventail waterfall unfurls in several streams of water over a wide limestone cliff. The falls follow the steps and irregularities of the rock, while the vegetation frames the scene and enhances the refreshing feeling of the Jura undergrowth. A path with a handrail appears on the left amid the dense forest. This crossing gives scale to the broad ledges over which the water spreads. The photograph thus maintains the connection between the waterfall and its surroundings, from the small man-made lines to the great rock surface brought to life by the falls.

The panoramic format allows showing the full width of the cliff. The vertical lines of the water echo the limestone strata, the moss and forest areas add softer textures, and the soft light preserves the details of the site.

About 65 meters high, this waterfall is part of the Cascades du Hérisson site, in the commune of Ménétrux-en-Joux. It is one of the main falls of this natural complex in the Jura, fed by a stream that crosses several changes in relief.

This photo print of the Éventail waterfall in the Jura is printed on demand on matte Dibond aluminium. The finish brings out the subtlety of the water streams and the texture of the wet rock.
