The Jura massif offers very different landscapes depending on whether you look towards the Pays des Lacs, the forests of the Hautes-Combes, or the ridges overlooking the Pays de Gex. The Quatre Lacs, the Pic de l’Aigle, the Crêt de la Neige, Mont Reculet, and the limestone cliffs form a territory softer in its forms than the Alps, but particularly rich in viewpoints.

The lakes and viewpoints of the Haut-Jura
From the Quatre Lacs viewpoint or the Pic de l'Aigle, the landscape is organized around the lakes of Ilay, Narlay, Petit Maclu, and Grand Maclu. The forests, wetlands, and plateaus give these panoramas a particular depth, very different from alpine landscapes.
The Haute Chaîne du Jura
Further south, the Crêt de la Neige and Mont Reculet dominate the Pays de Gex and the Valserine valley. Alpine pastures, open ridges, and long wooded lines compose sober mountain photographs, where distance and the succession of planes play an essential role.
