This photograph brings together the Paccaly and Tardevant combes with the Rochers de la Salla in the Aravis massif. Slopes, pale cliffs and ridge lines follow one another above the alpine meadows, drawing a highly structured landscape where each combe guides the eye toward the limestone relief. A small hut and winding path punctuate the enclosed meadows. Conifer forest accompanies this nearby terrain before the ridges stand out beneath large clouds. These reference points give the combes a more familiar scale: the path makes their curves easy to follow, while the hut discreetly measures the height of the slopes surrounding the meadow.

The framing emphasizes the repetition of curves and the verticality of the Rochers de la Salla without artificially isolating a single summit. Natural tones of limestone, vegetation and sky provide a precise reading of the relief, with an atmosphere that is both mineral and pastoral.

The area lies above La Clusaz in Haute-Savoie. The parallel combes are among the most characteristic forms of the Aravis range: they cut into the massif between summits and, depending on the season, hold high-altitude meadows, snowfields or broad snow-covered slopes.
