At the Jonction, a rocky path winds between the Bossons and Taconnaz glaciers, above the Chamonix valley. Seracs, crevasses, and ice masses dominate much of the landscape, while a hiker provides a sense of scale for this glacial environment. Two people are seated at the lower right, facing the enormous seracs in the left foreground. Dark spurs separate several glacial surfaces before the snowy dome in the distance. Their small size gives scale to the nearby blocks of ice, while these rocky divisions make the layout of the basin clear all the way to its upper reaches.

The path's line guides the eye from the foreground rock towards the glaciers, then towards the upper slopes. The human presence remains tiny, enhancing the sensation of depth, height, and movement inherent in fractured ice.

This viewpoint in the Mont-Blanc massif marks the meeting point of the two glaciers. The long and demanding route follows a rocky spur between their ice tongues and retraces a historical section used during the first explorations of Mont-Blanc in the late 18th century.
