About this image
Lac du Crozet stretches between the granite slopes of Belledonne beneath a sky reflected in almost still water. Ridge lines continue across the lake surface, while a few rocks structure the shores and give the foreground relief.
The great wall adjoining the lake fills the left side and is reflected directly in the water. Opposite it, the nearby right bank leaves an opening toward a small notch where part of a distant range appears. This framing combines the immediate presence of stone with a very limited distant view: the mirror chiefly reveals the relief bordering Crozet.
The photograph favours balance between water, rock and sky. Colours remain natural, with deep blues, granite greys and a few vegetal nuances preventing an overly cold composition. The reflection provides gentle symmetry without erasing the irregularities of the landscape.
Located at 1,974 metres above sea level above Revel in Isère, this mountain lake lies on the route toward Col de la Pra and the Doménon lakes. Its overflow dam overlooks the Grésivaudan valley and opens a view toward the Chartreuse massif.
This photo print of Lac du Crozet is printed to order on matte aluminium Dibond. The finish preserves the depth of the reflection, the lines of the ridges and the details of the shores in the Belledonne massif.
