Fed by the Durance and Ubaye rivers, Serre-Ponçon stretches between the Hautes-Alpes and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Variations in water level reveal mineral strata on some banks and constantly alter the design of coves, peninsulas, and coastal slopes. The color of the water is the primary focal point, but the framing gives significant space to the mountains.
