About this image
Lake Villard-de-Lans reflects the trees and relief of the Vercors in an autumn palette. Yellow, orange and brown foliage frames calm water, where the colours continue without erasing the forms of the banks and groves. Yellow trees alternate with conifers around the small lake. A veil of mist hides part of the mountains behind them, while the water repeats the nearest silhouettes. This difference in sharpness conveys the season without overloading the palette: foliage remains clearly drawn at the edge of the mirror before the landscape gradually softens toward the veiled relief.
The photograph relies on the softness of the reflection and the progression of warm tones. A few darker areas give contrast to the water, while branches and shorelines maintain a natural composition without overly perfect symmetry.
The landscape lies within Villard-de-Lans in Isère, at the heart of the Vercors Regional Natural Park. Forests, meadows and limestone relief surround the village and form a mountain environment where autumn rapidly transforms the vegetation.
This photo print of Lake Villard-de-Lans in autumn is printed to order on matte aluminium Dibond. The finish preserves the richness of the colours, the nuances of the water and the peaceful atmosphere of the Vercors.
