The rocky silhouette of Pierra Menta dominates the slopes of the Beaufortain, while a mountain hut appears at the scale of the vast landscape. The monolith stands out clearly above the hollows and gives the composition an immediately recognizable mineral landmark. Located in Savoie, Pierra Menta rises to 2,714 metres. Its distinctive profile has become one of the symbols of the Beaufortain and gave its name to the famous ski-mountaineering race held in the massif. High-altitude huts and routes connect this summit with the surrounding lakes and passes. The presence of the building introduces a human dimension without diminishing the strength of the relief. The eye crosses the slopes, follows the lines of the hollows and reaches the rocky point, through a palette of snow, mineral greys and understated Alpine tones.
