About this image
The Trift Glacier opens the composition before the high peaks of Weissmies, Lagginhorn, and Fletschhorn. The lines of ice, moraines, and rocky slopes create a natural progression towards the ridges that dominate the Saas Valley. Bands of fractures cross the broad glacial dome. Two dark rock masses frame its edges and accentuate the brightness of the ice beneath the blue sky. These rocky boundaries allow the glacier's extent and changes in slope to be followed, from its most open areas to the breaks fragmenting its surface.
The richness of the photograph comes from the succession of planes. The ice retains its clear and bluish hues, the intermediate rocks separate the different reliefs, and the peaks stand out with sufficient legibility to avoid any confusion between the masses.
The Weissmies reaches 4,017 meters, the Lagginhorn 4,010 meters, and the Fletschhorn 3,985 meters. These peaks belong to the Alpes valaisannes and frame the Saas-Grund and Saas-Fee area, where several glaciers descend into the valleys.
This photo print of the Trift Glacier and the peaks of the Saas Valley is printed to order on matte aluminium Dibond. The rendering preserves the depth of this glacial panorama of Valais.
