In black and white, the Grand Combin appears as a collection of ridges, glacial slopes, and sharply defined rock faces. The Corbassière Glacier occupies the lower plains, while the summit lines stand out in a wide range of grays. The massif dominates the Val de Bagnes in the Valais Alps, reaching 4,314 meters at the Combin de Grafeneire. It comprises several peaks over 4,000 meters above a significant north-facing glacial system. The monochrome treatment does not remove the nuances of the landscape; on the contrary, it enhances the visibility of seracs, moraines, and rock strata. The whites of the snow, the grays of the ice, and the blacks of the hollows give the scene an almost sculptural depth. This photograph becomes a black and white photo print of the Grand Combin, custom-made on matte Dibond aluminium. The result retains the richness of tones and the precision of the Valais reliefs.
